Benjamin Kalu Hosts EU Delegation, Pledge to Deepen Africa-Europe Partnership.
Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, has hosted a high-level EU delegation in Abuja as a follow-up to his recent visit to the European Parliament and EU Commission in Brussels.
The meeting, led Mathieu Briens of the European External Action Service (EEAS), focused on activating key areas of the EU-Africa partnership discussed during the Brussels sessions. The delegation included EU Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Amb. Gautier Mignot, and other senior EU officials.
Discussions covered Nigeria’s ongoing constitutional review, with emphasis on the rule of law, human rights, electoral reform, and gender balance. Kalu reiterated Nigeria’s commitment to driving democratic reforms and deepening continental cooperation through the Pan-African Parliament.
The EU delegation also briefed his office on new initiatives to support governance and institutional reforms across Africa.
