The Rivers state police command has arrested Mrs Ihuoma Amadi,for stabbing her husband Kinikanwo Amadi, multiple times with broken bottle until he bled to death in Port Harcourt, the suspect has since been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department of the Rivers State Police Command.
Spokesman of the Command, Nnamdi Omoni, who confirmed this while speaking on the incident said the Commissioner of Police, Joseph Mukan, has ordered an immediate investigation on the matter.
The 47 year old late Kinikanwo Amadi, a former Supervisory Councillor at Obio-Akpor local government area, Rivers State, was said to have died after he had a fight with his wife, who he accused of infidelity.
Information available to The News Gazette Online says that the late Kinikanwo Amadi and the wife, Ihuoma, had been having constant marital issues which resulted in domestic violence, bordering on the allegation that the wife had been having an affair with a man living along their street an allegation she always denied.
On Thursday December 10,2020, fight started between the couple which led to the accused stabbing the husband severally with broken bottle and left to bleed to death in their apartment at Nkporlu-Rumuigbo around 1 am.
Victor Amadi,the younger brother to the late Kinikanwo Amadi, said ”my late brother and his wife had five children and it is unfortunate that his brother was killed by his wife, according to the information their fifteen -year old daughter gave to us when we rushed to their residence at the early hours of the morning when the news of his death came to us”
According to Victor while narrating what happened to them the daughter said her parents were fighting due to the accusation the father levelled against her mother, he said the Police had arrested the suspect for further investigation.
He stated that the corpse has been deposited at the morgue in the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH).
