The Umuahia North chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has upheld the one-month suspension of Hon. Emeka Ejiogu by the Umuhu Ward and passed a vote of confidence on its Chairman Chief Peter Nwaogaraku,
This decision was contained in a communiqué dated March 20th 2025 signed by the LGA Chairman Mr. Chimdi Omesue, and made available to the News Gazette Online.
According to the communiqué, the Umuahia North LGA party executives expressed satisfaction with the findings of the investigative panel set up to review the suspension of Hon. Ejiogu. “After a thorough review of the panel’s findings, we are pleased to express our satisfaction with the panel’s diligent efforts and the impartiality demonstrated in the discharge of their responsibilities,” the statement read.
The letter reaffirmed the one-month suspension imposed on Hon. Ejiogu by his ward and directed him to tender a written apology for allegations of anti-party activities and attempts to factionalize the party at the ward level. Furthermore, the party instructed the Umuhu Ward Chairman to impose stiffer sanctions if Hon. Ejiogu fails to comply with the directive.
The PDP leadership emphasized that it would not tolerate indiscipline or attempts to instigate a crisis within the party. They strongly condemned Hon. Ejiogu’s refusal to appear before the panel despite writing to the party at the Local Government Level to appeal his suspension. Instead, he allegedly resorted to using thugs to attack panel members and disrupt their sittings.
With this resolution, the party has reaffirmed its commitment to upholding discipline and unity within its ranks, ensuring that internal mechanisms for addressing grievances are respected and adhered to.
