The month of November has already begun with excitement for up-and-coming footballers with the news that UECOB Sports Academy will embark on a 4-day International football scouting fiesta in partnership with the government of Abia State to be held in Umuahia from 4th-8th November 2023.
This football scouting program is coordinated by a Nigerian-Spanish-based FIFA intermediary Kenneth Ogbuehi in collaboration with partners from Portugal and Spain to harvest potential Samuel Chukwueze’s, Victor Osimhen’s, Kelechi Iheanacho’s, Christy Uchibe’s, Asisat Oshoala’s, Rasheedat Ajibade’s, and Chiamaka Nnadozie’s during the program.
UECOB Sports Academy will receive backing from the Abia State Government whose clarion calls to private and well-meaning individuals to give real attention to sports development in the state is obliged to.
The benefits of this program promise to be enormous. Lots of teams/academies from Nigeria and beyond will be on show in Umuahia including the Women’s category of the program (the first of its kind) will see participants from Aba, Uyo, Owerri, and Asaba.
The opportunities for talents to gain the necessary exposure and work their way into the minds of the observers, spectators, and scouts will be invaluable as excellently performing athletes will be given a chance at trials in Europe.
