Member representing Umuahia South state Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly Hon. Barrister Jerry Uzosike has cried out to relevant state and federal government agencies over the ravaging effect of erosion in his Constituency, in an SOS letter written by the law maker and made available to The News Gazette Online, titled “UMUNWANWA ,MY COMMUNITY IS COMPLETELY TAKEN OVER BY EROSION”
The lawmaker lamented that Umunwanwa, a community in his Constituency is at the brink of being submerged by erosion, he said he had made several presentations to NEWMAP and other agencies to cone to their aid but there seem to be no help in sight as NEWMAP is about exiting the state, he is now crying out to the government both at the state and federal level to please come and save his people.

As a member of House of Assembly, I feel so ashamed of myself, helpless and powerless. Am beseeched by barrage of calls, SMS, videos of my community, where will our help come from? Am heartbroken.
Abia House of Assembly has resolved severally calling on NEWMAP to help, the house of Assembly wrote to Ecological office to help, they sent a letter to NDDC TO HELP,sent a letter to everyone who care to help.
Where will our help come from? Lives lost .
This problem started when NDDC started this road, distablized the stability of the road which increased run off and abandoned it.
This is our community square, a road that leads to IMO state, in fact 15minutes from here to owerri, a road to 100k hecters of Agricultural land . RIVER BASIN DEV AUTHOR LAND.
I went to ECOLOGICAL OFFICE ABUJA, paid for the design to be made and submitted to ecological office, still no help insight.
