The PDP Governorship candidate in Abia State, Prof. Eleazar Uche Ikonne has described Hon. Jerry Uzosike as a hardworking and visionary representative who believes in the welfare of his people, he said this while commissioning projects executed by Hon. Uzosike to mark his 3rd term in office as member representing Umuahia South State constituency, Prof. Ikonne also said that its the likes of Hon. Uzosike that encouraged him to enter the governorship race in order to work for Ndi Abia and spread dividends of development across the state, he said this while commissioning some projects executed by the Member Representing Umuahia South State Constituency, Hon. Barr. Jerry Uzosike at Umunwanwa, Umuahia South LGA.
Speaking while commissioning the projects which include a three-bedroom bungalow for a widow, Mrs. Oluchi Uzoma and Matrons Quarters in Umunwanwa Healthcare Centre with provisions of borehole and other facilities, Prof. Uche Ikonne extolled the uncommon representation of Hon. Jerry Uzosike. He said the primary health centre fixed has made his work easier as he comes on board.
Prof. Ikonne said what Jerry is doing is a testimony to the peaceful atmosphere between the executive and legislature and also a sign of what is coming in the State in 2023. He stressed the need for all to support PDP to sustain the developmental projects in the area. He enjoined the beneficiaries of the empowerment equipment to make judicious use of it while urging those at the healthcare facility and the beneficiary of the bungalow to take good care of it.
Also speaking, the Abia Central Senatorial hopeful, Col. Austin Akobundu (rtd) congratulated Hon. Jerry Uzosike on the array of projects he has done within three years in office and described him as a template for young leadership. He said that they are very proud of him and expressed joy that the victory of PDP is assured based on the works already done by Hon. Uzosike. He equally added that with the expected success of Prof. Ikonne, Hon. Jerry Uzosike and himself value would be added to the lives of the Umuahia South people and Abians at large.
In their speeches, the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Chris Ezem, the Chairman, Umuahia South PDP caucus, Pastor Emeka Inyama, Dr. Max Ndukwe Adindu, and the President-General of the community, Mazi Uzosike Uzochukwu among others all extolled the sterling representation of Hon. Jerry Uzosike stating that Umuahia South will remain a PDP LGA and will stay united while assuring the incoming Governor and Senator of 100 percent votes.
They said they are proud of Hon. Uzosike’s qualitative representation, saying that what Jerry Uzosike has done at the health centre was to support the healthcare policy of Governor Ikpeazu and assured that Jerry Uzosike would return to the State House of Assembly in 2023.
Earlier in his remarks, the donor and Member Representing Umuahia South State Constituency, Hon. Barr. Jerry Uzosike disclosed that the projects he has been doing in the past three years is in line with his resolve to deliver representation beyond legislation.
He informed that he has done many projects across the clans of Umuahia South LGA, including construction of buildings for the less privileged, various youth empowerment and skill development projects, drilling of borehole and renovation of healthcare centre and school blocks among others.
Hon. Jerry Uzosike, who thanked the PDP stakeholders in Umuahia South, women and youths said he was able achieve all because of the unity in Umuahia South and assured that other ongoing projects would be completed. He said that with his achievements, the Umuahia South electorates would vote for PDP overwhelmingly in the forthcoming elections.
Earlier as part of the events to mark the 3rd year anniversary of Hon. Uzosike’s representation the Umuahia South Traditional Rulers Council had honoured Prof. Ikonne with a chieftaincy Title as NWANNE DI NA MBA, they also conferred on Col. Austin Akobundu with the title of OCHIAGHA UKWU.
Highlight of the event was the distribution of empowerment equipment such as sewing machines, and refrigerators among others while members of UcheNdiAbia Campaign Organization accompanied Prof. Uche Ikonne to the event.
