Mr. President, Please Reconsider Reno Omokri’s Appointment By Demian Igbokwe

Mr. President, Please Reconsider Reno Omokri’s Appointment

Your Excellency,
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,

I write you today not just as a loyal party man, but as a voice echoing the silent concerns of many who stood by you when it mattered most. As Nigeria navigates the challenges of nation building, your appointments and decisions carry profound symbolic and practical significance.

One such decision now threatening the unity, loyalty, morale, and commitment of loyal party faithfuls who fought for your mandate is the nomination of Mr. Reno Omokri for an ambassadorial position.

With all due respect, Mr. President, this move if not reconsidered will not only be against the interest of fairness, but it will be demoralizing for the countless faithful party members, media warriors, grassroots mobilizers, and campaigners who fought tooth and nail to counter Mr. Omokri’s relentless attacks against you during the last election.

I am sure you havent forgotten that Reno Omokri was not just a passive observer. He was an active and fierce critic, branding you with all manner of derogatory names, spinning propaganda, and actively working to sway public sentiment against your emergence.

The same individuals who now watch him being rewarded with a prestigious appointment remember clearly the personal sacrifices they made to stand in your defense. They remember the vitriol they endured, the resources they committed, and the sleepless nights spent in your service.

What message does this appointment send to those loyal hearts who held the line? Are we now telling our party faithfuls that loyalty and sacrifice count for nothing? That those who vilify and defame can be elevated, while those who believe and build are sidelined?

Let me also use this opportunity to remind you of the imbalance which points towards the marginalization of the South East zone in your administration’s political appointments. The region, despite the narrative often told, holds a significant number of supporters who defied the tide and stood by you and our great party.

These are people who deserve recognition and inclusion. Balancing your appointments to reflect a more inclusive and just representation, especially for the South East, will not only strengthen national unity but will reaffirm your administration’s commitment to equity.

In this light, I humbly urge you to reconsider the appointment of Mr. Reno Omokri. Rewarding those who fought you with bitterness and malice will only embolden others to adopt the same tactics, confident that their eventual reintegration and reward is guaranteed regardless of the damage done. This would be a dangerous precedent, one that threatens to undermine the values upon which you are known for over the years.

Mr. President, your legacy is being written with every decision. Let it be said that Bola Ahmed Tinubu stood by those who stood by him. Let history reflect that you honored loyalty, encouraged integrity, and rewarded sacrifice.

With utmost respect,

Hon. Demian Igbokwe
Abia APC Chieftain
