On every football pitch across Ireland, kids shout out their favorite players’ names when they play. After this summer they’ll have new names to shout. Dreams became reality when the current Irish Women’s Soccer team representing the past, present, and future confirmed they’ll debut at this year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

The “Girls in Green” have fashioned two impressive victories against World Cup-bound African teams Morocco and Zambia in the last 8 months with two narrow defeats against the United States and a draw with China in that time. They also boast of a 3-2 win against fellow Group B hopefuls and tournament co-hosts Australia which came in 2021.

Bristol City Women’s Chloe Mustaki and Celtic Women’s Claire O’ Riordan headline Vera Pauw’s 23-woman final list cut down from an initial preliminary 27 with Aoife Mannion and Meghan Campbell dropped due to injury.

Ireland will play a warm-up match against France on 6 July at the Tallaght Stadium before jetting out to Oceania to continue preparations ahead of their World Cup Group B opener against Australia on 20 July in Sydney with further matches against Canada and Nigeria.
