Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbor federal constituency is one of the few federal constituencies that cut across two senatorial zones and also one of the largest federal constituencies in the country.
Upon the return of democracy in 1999 Hon. Clifford Ohiagu won the election under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to represent the federal constituency in the House of Representatives, at the end of his tenure he handed over to Rep. Nkechi Justina Nwaogu who served between 2003 to 2007, Hon. Eziuche Chinwe Ubani took over and did two tenures of four years each between 2007–2015 before Hon Solomon Ezinwa Adaelu took over the seat to represent Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbo in the green chambers.
Having followed the activities in the federal constituency and those that represented them for 16 years, between the periods of 1999 to 2015 one can hardly point at any altruistic developmental project attracted or fully executed by all the past representatives joined together in their joint 16 years as representatives of the people.
An unbiased assessment of Hon. Solomon Ezinwa Adaelu’s tenure exposes a period of developmental representation, not only in Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbo but to Abia and the nation at large, the first four years of Sloddy in the green chambers became the standard by which other federal constituencies in the state was used to measure the achievements of their representatives his brilliant, selfless and exceptional performance made his colleagues and friends nickname him “THE MESSENGER”
Hon. Adaelu within his first year in office as a legislator scored a historic feat which no other lawmaker has been able to surpass atleast within the southeast and to a large extent the country in general, by procuring heavy-duty construction equipment (three graders, three pall loaders, and three compactors) for an all year round rural road maintenance program across his constituency.
Hon. Adaelu because of his love for education and his passion for the advancement and wellbeing of his constituents under his educational endowment scheme initiated the purchase and distribution of Jamb forms yearly for his constituents that want to seek tertiary education.
The educational scheme which was launched in 2015 has been taking care of the tuition and other educational needs of over 400 undergraduates from the 3 LGA’s of Obingwa/Ugwunagbor and Osisioma which honourable Adaelu represents.
Under his rural electrification project,Hon. Adaelu attracted and distributed over 35 pieces of 300kva transformers across the three LGA,s that he represents.
Being one who has a robust relationship and closeness with his constituents and is abreast with the present economic realities and lack of employment opportunities in the country, he has encouraged his constituents especially the youth to become self-employed by training them in different vocations of their choice in his skill acquisition program and he also gave them financial startups and tools to enable them set up upon graduation, the program which was carried out in phases had 20 youths selected from each of the three local governments. he has also secured employment opportunities for over 50 graduates in the federal and state government-owned ministries and agencies.
He attracted the attention of the federal government to Osisioma/NNPC/Ekeakpara and the road was awarded for rehabilitation in the 2018 Budget to the tune of #96,813,128 (ninety-six million, eight hundred and thirteen thousand, one hundred and twenty-eight naira) given the economic importance and viability of that road to the state and the citizenry Sloddy deserve accolades to have attracted such an audacious and all-important project.
As a federal lawmaker, he has also been actively involved in bringing the nations economy up to speed with current global economic engagements and technology, he has in his capacity organized different workshops and symposiums on cryptocurrency and other facets of E-commerce technology and has also educated and brought the blockchain technology to Nigerians for consideration as part of current global business trends through the green chambers.
In the area of health, Hon. Adaelu, attracted the construction of three standard hospitals which has been completed and equipped to take care of the health of the rural population in his constituency, he periodically organizes HIV/AIDS awareness and sensitization campaigns with free medical tests and treatments of all kinds of ailments and has also taken the bills of those with more complex medical issues that require specialized attention.
In his core mandate of lawmaking and legislation Hon. Solomon Adaelu’s motion on Police brutality on defenseless and hapless Citizens of Nigeria received wide acclaim and his recommendations were adopted by the House of Representatives.
The messenger’s bill seeking the alteration of the provisions of Section 147 & 192 of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria mandating THE PRESIDENT and GOVERNORS to provide their CABINET (MINISTERS OR COMMISSIONERS) within 30 days of swearing in’ was passed into law by the senate giving him and his constituency an indelible place in the Nigerian law book.
Hon. Adaelu’s time in the green chambers has been a display of capacity, dexterity, trust, sophistry, intelligence, and sagacity in leadership and representation and his paramount interest is his commitment to the development of his people and constituency.
