As the support for the emergence of Professor Eleazar Uche Ikonne gathers momentum, the PDP Deputy Governorship candidate in the State, Hon. Barr. Okey Igwe has received many APC decampees in Umunneochi LGA to the ruling PDP in the State.
Speaking in a meeting where he received the APC decampees, Barr. Okey Igwe said that the massive defection from various opposition parties to the PDP is a sign of full support the Ikonne/ Igwe ticket is receiving in the grassroots. He added that getting more members for the party boosts the chances of the PDP in achieving landslide victory in the forthcoming elections.
Hon. Barr. Okey Igwe assured the decampees that they would not be discriminated against and urged them to work effectively in ensuring total victory for the PDP in the State. He said that Professor Ikonne and the PDP is committed to bringing development in the State through his think globally and strategize locally plan.
Earlier, the APC decampees had informed the PDP Deputy Governorship candidate that they were convinced that the PDP Governorship arrangement favoured the people of old Isuikwuato District and decided to join in achieving it. They assured that they would work to bring the dream of Ikonne/Igwe ticket to a reality and congratulated him on his nomination as the running mate of Professor Uche Ikonne.
