Governor Otti, Suspends Concessioning Of The Mgbarakuma Abattoir, Cattle Market, and Control Post To Jesse Marine Nigeria Ltd.

Following the disagreement between the management of Jesse Marine Nigeria Ltd and the traders and operators of Mgbarakuma Abattoir, Cattle Market, and Control Post in Umuahia South local Government area of Abia State the Governor of Abia State Dr. Alex Otti, has directed the Ministry of Agriculture To Take Back The Management Of The Abattoir, Cattle Market, and Control Post.

This follows the investigations into the purported memorandum of understanding between Umuahia South local council authorities and Jesse Marine Nigeria Limited.

In a letter addressed to the Umuahia South Local Government Chairman and signed by the secretary to the state government Prof. Kenneth Kalu, the Governor directs that the construction of stalls/Shops by Jesse Marine Nigeria Ltd be stopped forthwith stating that the Umuahia South LGA, has no right to concession what it does not own.

The letter also directed the Ministry of Agriculture to take back and manage the Abattoir, Cattle Market, and Control Post on behalf of the state government.

Following the directive by the state government the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Mrs. Nwokocha, has scheduled a meeting with Chairman of Umuahia Butchers Association Chief Ngozi Williams and his executives to discuss ways of ensuring that sanity returns to the Mgbarakuma Abbatoire, control post and Cattle Market.
