Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State, Prof. Uche Ikonne, has charged Senatorial, House of Representatives, and State House of Assembly candidates of the PDP in Abia state to be magnanimous in victory.
Professor Ikonne made the call during the presentation of certificates of return to those who emerged victorious at the recently conducted PDP primary elections in the state, he told them to bear in mind that they are like a football team with him as the captain and that nothing short of total victory from the House of Assembly, the Reps, Senate and Governorship is expected, he also advised them to be magnanimous in victory and embrace those that contested election against them while describing the primary election as a family affair.

Addressing the candidates, the state chairman tasked them to embark on reconciliation with others who contested against them and to also ensure that they won’t make any mistakes in filling their forms to avoid unnecessary litigations as he cannot afford to lose any seat.
The event which was held Tuesday at the State Party Secretariat in Umuahia saw the party Chairman Rt. Hon. Allwell Asiforo issuing certificates of return to all the candidates of the party including Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, the speaker of the Abia State house of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji and his deputy Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Uchendu who won the Senatorial and House of Representatives tickets respectively.
Others who received their Return Certificates include, Senator MAO Ohuabunwa, former Chief of Staff to the Governor, Prof. ACB Agbazuere, Chief Lucky Johnson, Mr Ugochukwu Ezeocha, Hon. Barrister Jerry Uzosike, Pastor Ugochukwu Uchegbu, Elder Erondu Uchenna Erondu etc.
Recall that the former Vice-Chancellor of Abia State University and the Abia PDP governorship candidate had earlier on Tuesday received his certificate of return from the PDP national secretariat in Abuja.
