Membership Disagreement: Bende LGA PDP Chairman Reacts
The Bende LGA PDP Chairman, Hon. Ihechi Phillips, has issued a stern warning to members who believe the party will continue tolerating unruly behavior. He stressed that under his watch all forms of anti-party activities are henceforth, strictly prohibited.
Reacting to the actions of his LGA Women leader who opposed the State party’s position, Hon. Philips expressed his disappointment, urging party leaders to lead by example through appropriate conduct both in private and public. He therefore apologised to the State Working Committee for the outburst of his LG women leader as it wasn’t in her place to discuss party membership or is she the spokesperson of the party in Bende LGA.
Hon. Phillips reiterated that it is the responsibility of the Ward and Local Government Chairmen to manage membership issues, emphasizing that only those properly documented in the party’s register are valid members. “Anyone can collect membership cards and list names, but without proper registration in the party’s official records, such actions are invalid,” he explained.
The Bende LGA PDP Chairman also reaffirmed the party’s stance on the Bende membership disclaimer of Chief Emeka Kalu, declaring that the position of the State Working Committee remains firm until a full investigation is completed.
He assured that he would take decisive steps to address the issue of disorderly behavior among both ward and LGA EXCOs of the party in Bende to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
