It was a fun-filled event at the 2023 prize-giving and graduation ceremony of Mercy International Academy, Trans Ekulu Enugu, as the pupils elegantly dressed in their school uniforms entertained the guests and parents that came to witness the event.
The colourful event brought together teachers, parents, friends, and well-wishers of the school, to celebrate the commitment, high moral standards, and educational achievements of pupils during the academic year.
The chairman of the event Prince Ejike Eya commended the proprietor and teachers for the excellent brilliance exhibited by the pupils and also praised the high moral standards that the school impacted on the pupils, he admonished parents not to entrust the training of their wards only in the hands of the teachers but also take interest in the education of their children by assisting them in their school works at home, stating that the quality of education at Mercy International Academy was as a result of the dedication, passion and hard work on the part of the teachers, Prince Eya also made a cash donation to support the school.
The Co-Chairman Pharmacist Edison Iwundu in his own speech acknowledged the exceptional brilliance of the pupils and attributed it to the quality of the teaching and dedication of the teachers and management of the school whose mission is to deliver a life-changing education and prepare them for higher school challenges
The best graduating primary six pupil at Mercy International Academy was awarded a scholarship by Pharmacist Edison Iwundu on behalf of Edison Iwundu Foundation, while other graduands received different gift items from the proprietor of the school ranging from educational materials to home utensils
In her speech, The Head Teacher of Mercy International Academy Mrs. Chinyere Okeke ascribed the successes that the school had recorded since it came into existence to the quality of teaching they give to the pupils, “In this school, we impart not just academic education, but with discipline and fear of God” and stated that in Mercy International Academy we transform pupils to become better academically, socially and otherwise, Mrs Okeke announced that the school has a well equipped library stocked with international and local educational books and a computer room where pupils are exposed to the computer right from the nursery school.
Some of the parents interviewed confessed that their children have been significantly transformed, with evidence based academic and moral improvement.
The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of gifts and awards, word recitation, debate sessions, drama and cultural display, dance competition, poems presentation, news broadcast, and various other activities.
