Christian Royal Fathers Pass Vote of Confidence on President Tinubu, Assure Him of Total Support
The Christian Royal Fathers’ Forum has passed a resounding vote of confidence on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, reaffirming their unwavering support for his leadership and pledging their continued loyalty ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
In a communique issued after their meeting held at the Forum’s Secretariat in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, the spokesman of the traditional rulers His Eminence, Eze Chibuikem Bonny Okere Jp, on behalf of the traditional rulers drawn from the five states of the South East commended President Tinubu for his remarkable achievements since assuming office.
The monarchs highlighted the President’s giant strides in infrastructural development, his promotion of religious tolerance, improved national security, commitment to equity and inclusion, and increased revenue allocations to subnational governments. They further lauded him for the establishment of the South East Development Commission (SEDC), which they described as a historic gift to Ndigbo, including the establishment of federal instructions such as Police Detective College, Bende, Federal College of Education, Bende, Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences, Item, Federal University, Okigwe, Federal Institute of Nigerian Languages, Aba, Federal College of Education, Ofeme, Federal Government College of Education (Technical), Umunneochi, they also thanked him for appointing several sons and daughters of the region into key positions in federal institutions.
The royal fathers, however, expressed deep concern over what they described as acts of intimidation and victimization some state governors particularly Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti against traditional rulers who have openly expressed support for President Tinubu.
They condemned such undemocratic tendencies, noting that “it is an act of wickedness and intolerance to compel traditional rulers to publicly endorse him and yet persecute others for supporting the President whose developmental strides benefit the entire region.”
The Forum also passed a vote of confidence on Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, describing him as a worthy son of the soil, a visionary leader, and a goal-getter who has consistently leveraged his office to attract federal presence and development to the South East.
In the same vein, the royal fathers commended Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, for his sustained efforts in strengthening the region’s relationship with the Federal Government and ensuring the South East remains strategically positioned in national affairs.
They further urged Governor Otti to end his media attacks and political hostilities against Deputy Speaker Kalu, and instead brief the people of Abia State on the numerous federal projects, including road reconstruction and interventions such as the Umuahia/Ikot-ekpene road and other federal road interventions already being implemented under President Tinubu’s administration.
The royal fathers concluded reminding the Governor that “the glory for the renewed developmental drive across the nation belongs to President Tinubu, whose bold economic reforms have ensured there are adequate resources for states to pay salaries, maintain infrastructure, and promote good governance.”
