Britarch International School has claimed the ultimate prize of the first edition of the Mathematics Quiz Competition organized by Sir Uwaga Mathematical Science Foundation in honour of the legendary mathematics teacher Late Sir Ihekweaba Godson Uwaga, (KCW).
The keenly contested competition featured Britarch International Secondary School, St. Mary Magdalene Secondary School, St Patricks Secondary School, Williams Memorial Secondary School, Living Word Academy, and Comprehensive Secondary School Umuda Isingwu, the quiz competition which was held on Saturday 13th of April 2024 at the Signature Event Center Umuahia, challenged the students on their knowledge of mathematics.
At the end of the competition, Britarch International Secondary School emerged as the overall champion and won a Laptop and cash prize, 1st runner-up, St. Patrick’s Secondary School went home with a plaque and also a cash prize, Living Word Academy which came 3rd also got a plaque and cash prize, all the participating schools were given cash prizes as a means of encouragement.
Declaring the event open Chief Hope Uwaga said “This competition will be an annual event which will provide students the avenue not just to compete but to encourage students to work hard and study mathematics,” stating that the competition is in respect and honour of his late father Sir Ihekweaba Uwaga who he described as an authority in the teaching of mathematics.
The highlight of the event was the launching of Sir Uwaga Mathematical Science Foundation followed by the launching of the book Titled: Unlocking Math Mastery, EFFICIENT PROBLEM-SOLVING STRATEGIES For Quick Results written by the late Sir Ihekweaba Godson Uwaga, (KCW)
The Chairman of the event is Sir Dimkpa Agbara, while the Chief launcher is Chief Sir Morris Abazie, Dr Maduka Okoro represented His Excellency Sen. Dr. Orji Uzo Kalu (MON).
