A 3 Storey Building Under Construction has reportedly collapsed, the building which was located at Ahiaeke along Ikot Ekpene road by Ahiaeke Community Market, Umuahia the capital of Abia state collapsed early Sunday morning.
In a telephone interview with our reporter the President General Azueke Ibeku Autonomous Community, Hon. Tony Onyenweaku, said the building has been under construction since the 90,s with the owner illegally changing the approved structural plan, he told our reporter that at the moment no one is sure if people are not trapped inside the building as construction work was ongoing inside the building as at the time of the incident.
He called on the relevant authorities to move in fast and rescue those trapped inside the building if any and also ensure the pulling down of the entire structure as it can no longer stand integrity test.
Efforts to speak with the owner of the building proved abortive as those residing within the neighborhood were unwilling to volunteer his contacts.
