We Are Committed To Making Sure Every Corner Of Umuahia Is Kept Clean – ASEPA 

Abia State Environmental Protection Agency has advised Abians especially residents of Umuahia and environ to dispose of their waste properly, reacting to an online publication where in the waste management committee headed by the secretary to the state government Mr. Chris Ezem, is accused of not doing its job of keeping Umuahia clean, the ASEPA deputy director of operations Mr. Chidiebere Ogbuehi’ said such accusation is far from being truthful, ‘’it is evident that the interim waste management committee have been alive to its duties and have done a lot to improve the hygienic face of the state capital, we had a little operational challenge where in some of our operational trucks broke down and the engineers who are engaged to fix them created delays leading to the heaps that was experienced just a  week ago’’ he noted that some of their trucks are back to work and those areas that they complained about has been cleared, he apologized for the mechanical fault that they had and stated that the compactors and other trucks used in their operations are man-made and can break down at any time insisting that it wasn’t intentional. 

Mr. Ogbuehi said ASEPA will continue to perform its function of keeping Umuahia and environ clean and advised those who are criticizing their operations to do so truthfully and constructively as the agency welcomes all forms of criticisms and views that will assist us to expand on our duties. 

He called on the public to please ensure that they bag and dispose their wastes properly and avoid littering the environment with dirt now that the yuletide season is here, on the issue of the Amuzukwu relief market, he advised the traders to ensure that all their wastes are properly arranged and thrown inside the waste bucket to enable them lift the wastes for disposal, he stated that the agency clears waste around the Amuzukwu relief Market on daily basis sometimes twice daily, but the delay we had within the last one week was just because of the mechanical fault we experienced.

He said that the agency is doing its best within the resources available to it to ensure that Umuahia is kept tidy and that they will not relent as the agency is committed to making sure that every corner of the state capital and beyond is kept clean.
