Groups made up of men, women and the youths from all the autonomous communities in Ohuhu clan on Monday trouped out in large numbers to the residence of Chief Sir Obi Aguocha, the President General of Ohuhu Welfare Union World Wide calling on him to enter the Ikwuano/Umuahia 2023, House of representatives contest.
Speaking during the event Chief Arthur Nwamara said, “We are gathered here today to urge you to step forward as our General and defend the rights and integrity of the Ohuhu nation by running for the House of Representatives, Ohuhu will support and vote for you in-mass, it is our turn and we will resist any attempt to deny us of that right, Ikwuano has done their turn, Umuahia South did theirs, our Ibeku brothers of Umuahia north has done a tenure and now that it has come back to Umuahia north, inline with our age old understanding it is the turn of the Ohuhu clan to do their turn and we trust you will deliver if we send you to Abuja, we trust your capacity, we trust your reach, political sagacity and ability”
Also speaking Chief Ejelonu Williams, said the youths of Ohuhu will not only mobilize political support, but will also mobilize financial and moral support to actualize this our most cherished political ambition, he insisted that Ohuhu will never allow any body or group to arm twist us again and deny us of what is duly ours, we have been cheated out in the past but this time we are ready to battle it with any one nursing the ambition of taking that which belongs to us.
Also speaking, Chief Chima Ukaeze, stated that as a President General, Chief Aguocha raised the bar of leadership in Ohuhu, introduced transparency and did what we thought was impossible to achieve through community leadership and that is why we are confident that he will deliver and attract the much desired dividends of democracy into Ohuhu and across the length and breadth of Ikwuano/Umuahia and thats why we want to send him to Abuja because we are sure he will make Ikwuano/Umuahia Proud.
A youth leader Mr Nkwachukwu Ogwuegbu (Mollar) in his own speech said “We are confident that if Sir Obi Aguocha, contests the 2023 House of Reps election, he will defeat candidates of any other political party because he is well loved, respected and accepted across Ikwuano/Umuahia,” he is a brand we are proud of and we plead with our brothers across Ikwuano/Umuahia to make sure that Ohuhu is not short-changed and we will also go further by appealing to our Ohuhu brothers irrespective of your political or other selfish interests not to go counter to the general interest and welfare of Ndi Ohuhu by stopping us from taking advantage of this opportunity.
Responding Chief Aguocha, thanked them for finding him worthy to go and represent them at the federal level, he however told them that he will consult with other critical stake holders in the other 8 clans that made up Ikwuano/Umuahia and also other Ohuhu sons and daughters who have indicated interest to join the race, he however promised not to disappoint their wishes but assured them that he will ensure that Ohuhu gets whatever is duly theirs politically and otherwise
