The Chairman and stakeholders of Bende Local Government Area has trooped out en masse to declare their backing to the Gubernatorial Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party in Abia State,Professor Uche Ikonne.
Ndi Bende made this known when the leaders from the 13 political wards of Bende paid Prof Ikonne a solidarity visit at his Umuahia residence.
Presenting their unanimous stance, the Local Government Chairman of Bende, Chief Emmanuel Onwuchekwa disclosed that their reason for the visit is to formally inform Professor Uche Ikonne of their solidarity and support towards his gubernatorial bid. He also noted Professor Ikonne’s support to ndi Bende in time past, with an assurance that it is a pay back time.
Also Speaking, the member representing Bende South State Constituency Hon. Emmanuel Ndubusi, Bende North PDP candidate, Chief Ibekwe Nnamdi, Chief Gabriel Okereke Elendu, Chief Godwin Ndom, Chief Taribo Ojindu, Chief P.C Mba, Ambassador Okey Philips, Professor Udo Nwokocha and Mrs J.C Igwe, anchord by Dr. Haglar Okorie, expressed confidence in the person of Professor Ikonne who they attest to his ingenuity in leadership, as experienced given the leadership positions he has held.
They further described Professor Ikonne as a principled leader, right People-focused, who has the public service credentials to lead Abia at a critical time when the nation needs experienced, skillful, stable hands at the helm.
They went further to plead with Professor Ikonne to remember Ndi Bende in his scheme of things, just as always.
In his response, the Gubernatorial candidate thanked them for their support and solidarity.
He acknowledged the political relevance of Ndi Bende in the political history of Abia State, stating that Bende is the foundation of democracy in Abia State.
While acknowledging the reliability of ndi Bende, He cited his humble contributions to them at the various positions he has held, with a promise to do more.
He also used the opportunity to reveal the plans of his administration, which is to institute participatory governance, where every Abian must be involved in the leadership of the state.
He acknowledged so many challenges of ndi Bende, with a promise to place utmost attention to them.
Professor Ikonne also used the opportunity to present his running mate, Barr. Okey Igwe to Ndi Bende.
The DG and members Uche Ndi Abia Campaign Organization, the Deputy Chairman, Bende LGA Hon. Promise Uzoma Okoro, Professor Ogbonnna Onuoha, Professor O.C Ahuama, Dr. Nnamdi Nwaeze, among others were present during the visit.
